The Crane Swamper is responsible for assisting the crane operator in the safe and efficient movement of loads on job sites. Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with Rigging:
Secure loads to the crane using appropriate rigging techniques, ensuring stability and safety during lifts.
Inspect rigging equipment for defects or wear before use.
Signaling and Communication:
Use standard hand signals or radios to communicate with the crane operator, ensuring accurate movement and placement of loads.
Act as the eyes on the ground, providing the operator with guidance to avoid hazards.
Site Safety Compliance:
Monitor the job site for potential safety hazards and communicate risks to the team.
Ensure all operations comply with company safety standards and industry regulations.
Equipment and Site Maintenance:
Maintain rigging tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Assist with general site cleanup and organization to maintain a safe work environment.
Support Crane Operations:
Help position and stabilize the crane, including setting up outriggers if necessary.
Assist with pre-operation and post-operation inspections of the crane and related equipment.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: Previous experience in construction, rigging, or crane operations preferred.
Certifications: Rigging and signal person certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Capability to stand, crouch, or climb for extended periods.
