Job Title: Certified Payroll Specialist
Wage: $25 to $27 an hour DOE
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing: Calculate wages, bonuses, and deductions, process payroll for all employee types (hourly, salaried, etc.), and ensure accurate and timely payments.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including prevailing wage laws and certified payroll reporting.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate employee records, including personal information, tax exemptions, and wage changes, as well as supporting documentation for audits.
Employee Support: Address employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and other payroll-related matters.
Reporting: Prepare and submit payroll reports to management, government agencies, and other relevant parties.
System Management: Utilize and maintain payroll systems, including timekeeping and HRIS integration.
Certified Payroll: Ensures accurate and compliant payroll processing for projects, particularly those requiring certified payroll reports under California's Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and federal Davis-Bacon Act.
Ability and willingness to train other payroll specialist as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of Payroll Principles: Strong understanding of payroll calculations, tax laws, and regulations.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in handling data and ensuring accuracy in payroll processing.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
Communication Skills: Effective communication with employees, HR, and other stakeholders.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Experience with Payroll Software: Proficiency in using payroll software and systems. Experience with Paycom is a plus.
Certification: While not always required, a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification can demonstrate expertise.
