Job Position: Asphalt and Base installation
Location: Bakersfield, CA 93309
Pay Rate: $40.00/hr
Shift:
Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Field Operations Leader with strong experience in surveying/grade control, advanced heavy equipment operation, and asphalt/base installation oversight. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding crews, setting grade, operating equipment when needed, and ensuring top-quality production.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and oversee surveying & grade control: reading plans, setting hubs/stringline, using lasers/GPS/total stations, verifying elevations, and managing cut/fill.
Operate heavy equipment at an expert level: motor grader (required), excavator, dozer, skid steer, loader, rollers, and paver.
Oversee asphalt and Class II base installation, compaction, tonnage control, rolling patterns, and ensure tight tolerances ( 0.05 ft base, asphalt, 0.2% cross slope).
Lead grading/paving crews, coordinate trucking and materials, enforce safety, and maintain production goals.
Qualifications
5 10+ years heavy civil experience
2 5+ years leading grading/paving crews
Advanced equipment operation and grade-checking skills
Strong understanding of compaction and asphalt specs
GPS machine control experience preferred
OSHA 30 Cert.
